Hello Friends!

ahdanco is back and with all new work! I am excited to announce our 2010 Home Season, “here, look”, will take place over TWO(!) weekends at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center in Berkeley, CA on February 19-28, 2010.

I’ve spent the past year being inspired by the many different narratives that make up people’s shared experiences and relationships. Emerging from these inspirations are six new dances including a premiere created in partnership with the Oakland Poetry Slam that sets poet and dancer on stage together in a dynamic dialogue. We are also thrilled to be working again with Bay Area composer/musician Scott Simón, who is creating a brand new string/harmonica piece for the company.

We are very lucky and honored to be presented as part of Shawl-Anderson Dance Center’s Dance Up Close/East Bay Series. Being co-produced is enabling us to present “here, look” over two weekends – a first for ahdanco! But producing the show is an expensive proposition: rehearsal space rental, publicity materials, costumes, and fees for the dancers, poets, and composers. Moreover, producing a show over two weekends doubles many of these costs. In order to present our new work, as well as the work of our guest artists, we depend on support from individuals like you. No gift is too small, so please consider making a donation to ahdanco – in these current economic times your generosity is more important than ever!

As a fiscally sponsored project of Dancer’s Group, your charitable donation to ahdanco can be tax-deductible. A gift of $600 will help towards dancers’ fees; a gift of $250 will help towards costuming said dancers; a gift of $100 will partly fund the commission of our guest artists; a gift of $50 will help with printing costs for publicity materials. Even a gift of $25 will go a long way in helping the company cover our budget. Please help support ahdanco and the local artists we present by making a donation (see side for details).

If would like to know more about ahdanco and our Home Season please contact me at ahdanco@gmail.com. It would be my pleasure to tell you more about the company and explain further how your gift will be used.

I look forward to seeing you at “here, look” and wish you and yours a joyous holiday season!

Thank you,
